Cerro Castor is the only ski center in South America and one of the few in the world where skiing is practically at sea level: the base is at 180 meters above sea level and the summit at 990 meters above sea level.
Skiing at low altitudes allows for better oxygenation, less stress on the cardiovascular system and consequently greater enjoyment of skiing.
The typical discomforts that occur when skiing at altitudes above 2,000 meters above sea level in Ushuaia do not exist. There is better physical performance, as well as lower risks for those who do not have adequate training or adaptation to the altitude.
