No matter the season of the year, Ushuaia weather is almost unpredictable even during the day. In summer, the average temperature is 9, 6 °C and days are longer reaching almost 18 hours-daylight. In autumn (unique for the forests’ colours) days are cold but also sunny with brisk. Lower temperatures are registered by the end of July and beginning of August with an average of 1°C. In winter, there are only 7 or 8 hours-daylight but days tend to be bright and shiny. Spring is mostly windy and changeable.

Clothing

When you pack, beyond your personal taste and use, it is convenient to include warm, waterproof jackets, fleece polar sweaters, trainers or trekking shoes to wear when necessary.

Currency

The argentinian peso is the national currency with official circulation. Coins (centavos) go from AR$ 0,25 to AR$ 2 while bills go from AR$ 5 to AR$ 1000. The exchange currency with respect to US dollars is fluctuating. We recommend checking rates at Banco de la Nación Argentina www.bna.com.ar or Banco de Tierra del Fuego, www.bancotdf.com.ar.

For money exchange at the previously mentioned banks (US dollar or euros), you must show you DNI if you are Argentine or your passport if you are foreigner. Argentine passengers can exchange money at any local bank as long as they’re clients in their residency area . For other current exchange, there is an exchange house in the city. Ushuaia also counts with a large net of ATMs that extend money bills only on the local currency.
